Stuck Sketches: Driving

I carried on with the same supplies after yesterday's post and continued working backwards through my saved sketches and my July kit. I found a Stuck! Sketches sketch and got to work.





I initially intended to use this sketch with a portrait photo per the sketch but found I didn't have any in my box of printed photos so I adapted the sketch to use a couple of 3 x 4 shots instead.

This is another very aqua layout. The beautiful geometric background paper is from Pebbles Lakeside collection. I also added in a couple of pages from my 6 x 6 paper pads to stretch my supplies. The pink doily print is from Crate Paper and Maggie Holmes and the fussy cut map pieces are from an older Studio Calico travel line.

I finally got to use one of those gorgeous cars from the October Afternoon Travel Girl line. I added a framed image from the Miscellany from the same collection. I had a couple of the grab bags from Freckled Fawn out so I added the geotag paper clips that came in one of them as well.

 

I love the idea of paper strips for journalling but I never type my journalling so I decided to swap my title into that spot and set it up per the sketch. I am not entirely happy with this and may make it a bit more square. Chances are that it will go in my album as is though as I am all about getting things done at present.

The photos were taken on our trip to New Zealand in July. We popped into the Cookie Time store while we were there and Miss Three was very taken with the decorated mini in the centre of the store. We really had a hard time getting her to leave - not even a cookie bribe was successful!

I feel really good about getting these layouts done. I have used most of the kit and what isn't used is going back in my stash. I am going to open the next bag from the pile of shame and work on the next saved sketch. I have some wedding photos printed and seeing it is my wedding anniversary on Thursday I am thinking I might just try and scrap one of those. I can always reprint the photos if I don't love the outcome!

A Stuck Sketch got me unstuck

I have been in a crafting lull lately and decided that the scores of sketches that I save would be a good place to start. I decided to start with the most recent sketch to fall into my Feedly feed. The October first offering from Stuck?! looked like a good place to start.

 

I had a portrait photo of Scarlett modelling a necklace she made and I knew this would be perfect for the sketch. Scarlett has been off school all week with a virus so I set up on the lounge floor while she napped on the couch and things came together pretty quickly.

 

I used a variety of collections including Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper and MME's Find Your Wings and Fly. For once I took a photo of my layers before I started gluing and it was just as well as a certain small person dismantled the whole pile.

It felt really good to be crafting again. I hope I manage to grab some time tomorrow to try another sketch. S is home for the rest of the week with her bug so I might be lucky!

Dim Sum Diva : Stuck Sketch June 1

I opened my Feedly app (loving that by the way) and this sketch was just what I needed. I had kept aside some smaller pictures that I had not found a place for in Project Life but still wanted to use. I had two collections of four that I could have used and I suspect I may use the sketch again for the second set of photos.

 

 Here is my take.

 This series of photos was from a lunch out one weekend . I had about ten shots of Miss Three with her tongue poking out but decided to restrict it to just one. Sushi and dim sum are her favourite lunches out so we usually have one on Saturday and the other on Sunday.

The background paper is from Studio Calico and the coral stripes is Amy Tangerine. The  Laugh quote is from the most recent Dear Lizzy collection and, with the exception of the golf star washi and the little envelope in the bottom cluster from Basic Grey, all the stickers are from the most recent Amy Tangerine collection, Yes Please.

I went to enter this layout in the competition at Stuck but it doesn't appear the linky is up yet. I would love to see other takes on this sketch so please let me know if you give it a try. I found it a nice simple way to get a memory scrapped today.

Love: A Stuck?! Sketch

I had a hot streak of scrapbooking time this week and managed to get another layout completed. I had just over an hour for this one so I decided a sketch would certainly be helpful.

And here is my take.

I had this photo enlarged with the thought of framing it but I had not managed to get round to that. Instead I decided to use it. It is one of my favourite photos of my husband and daughter together. They really do adore each other.

I used my February SC kits for this layout in terms of paper. I love this cross hatch styled background paper. In the interests of continuing to reduce my stash I grabbed an older unopened pack of thickers and some 2009 Sassafrass flowers! I also added in some Websters Pages buttons and a selection of more recent SC arrow stickers and labels. I love the white space in this layout. I can see me repeating this sketch.

In other news Spotify has finally arrived in Singapore and I am so excited! Constant streaming of music that I like. What's not to love? I am working at fine tuning my channel and having so much fun doing so. I had forgotten how good great music makes me feel.

Hello World : March First Stuck Sketch

I have found sketches really useful lately. I have struggled more than a little to work with some of my SC kits of late and sketches have been a life saver. The Stuck site sketches have been a good starting point.

The first March sketch caught my eye for a number of reasons.

I have found I have a number of odd bits and pieces left over from cut apart sheets for Project Life or odd shaped boxes of patterned paper after I have finished with a kit. I knew I wouldn't use square images like those shown in the sketch but decided to use a standard 4 x 6 under the title wording.

Most of this project is from scraps and cut aparts included in the January Studio Calico kit, Block Party. I started off by misting the centre of the wood grain paper with some plum thumb Mister Huey just to carry the red throughout the layout. I replaced the photos from the sketch with pieces from a Carta Bella cut apart sheet in the kit. This photo makes everything look a little more washed out than it appears in reality. The cut aparts are not as far from the colour of the thickers as they appear.

I took my title from the piece of flair included beside the photo. I have a very confident daughter and she loves getting out into the world, seeing new places and meeting new people. This shot just seemed to fit with the theme.

Sticky Fingers A Stuck! Sketch

 

I knew as soon as I saw this sketch that it would be a great one to adapt to a single photo. I rarely scrap multiple photos or 8.5 x 11 but this was an easy switch.

 Two layouts in a  row without a person's face must be some sort of record for me. I was not intending to have Scarlett's hand in shot but she couldn't resist taste testing my breakfast. Funnily enough she is not an enormous fan of yogurt or pancakes so it must have been the honey that caught her eye.

I used my January  Studio Calico kit and an additional label from Dear Lizzy's Lucky Charm collection. I really like the star washi tape from this kit. I kept it fairly monochromatic with a pinch of pink from the berries on the plate.

Thursday is normally my Project Life day but I am still waiting on my Project Life kit from Studio Calico. I know there are some Valentine's Day cards that I would like to use so I have to wait. So frustrating. I seem to be getting my kits later and later each month.

Just a final thought. Tomorrow (the 22nd) is the second anniversary of the earthquake in Christchurch that changed my city and the lives of my friends and family forever. If you are Australia based, SBS is showing an amazing documentary called When A City Falls that will show some of what happened at 8.30 on Friday evening. I lost a good friend in the collapse of the CTV building so my thoughts will be with Matty and all those others who lost their lives. Kia Kaha Christchurch.

Stuck Sketches January First Sketch

I am working hard to get through my Sock Hop kit. I discovered this Stuck sketch site on a Studio Calico thread about Australasian blogs. The challenge closes today so I grabbed a photo and some scraps and got stuck in.

This photo is from our recent holiday in Phuket. Scarlett was desperate to make sand angels as she has never played in snow and figured this was the next best thing! I love her delighted expression in the photo.

I used scraps from my SC Sock Hop kit and a handful of arrow and star veneer along with some flair from a variety of sources. A simple take on the sketch but it lets the photo take a starring role.
