After the joy of a lovely meal out with my husband on a Monday morning, today has been the reality of Tet hopping on a plane heading for Hsinchu in Taiwan. It is a public holiday here today too so we would normally spend the day together. Sigh. I know it could be worse but I am much happier when he is around.
Tet and the Monkey had a lovely afternoon making cupcakes from a packet mix yesterday. The amount of sugar and food colouring sent Monkey into a very unpleasant place but the sight of them working together to finish the project was a lot of fun. I have discovered that I let Scarlett do a lot more herself than her Daddy does even if it means she makes a big mess. Still it is good for her to learn to express her displeasure constructively when Daddy won't let her do things she is more than capable of.
Fresh from the convection microwave.... I so miss having a proper oven |

She really does look like a waif and a stray! |
In amongst all this domesticity I have managed to work on a couple of layouts and even complete some more Project Life.
Sadly this layout was looking good until I got clever and started misting. The colour looks very odd on the grey background and it adds nothing to it at all really. It is a shame as I adore this picture of Scarlett in the rain. All the papers are from City of Light ( the April Studio Calico kit) with some additional Amy Tangerine and MME embellishments.
I used a similar starting point with this layout but am much happier with it overall. It shows a typical weekend morning for us involving walks along the river, coffee and breakfast at one of our favourite spots. I am recycling photos as these were ones we printed that did not make it into PL but have found a new home in this layout. Again this is mainly April SC kit with some Amy Tangerine and Crate Paper additions from my stash.
Now that I am a fully signed up instagram fan I have decided to take part in May Photo a day that way. My Instagram name is ClaireTomonaga if you would like to have a look at my photos as we go. A link to the list for May is here.
If I had a dollar for every layout I had that just didn't turn out like I expected, I'd be RICH! :) I do love how the other layout pops, the colors are perfect.
ReplyDeleteso fun to see a similar starting point with two different endings!
ReplyDeleteVery fun!
ReplyDeletegreat layouts but I understand your frustration. Many things don't turn out they way I expect. ;)
ReplyDeletePoor girl, you'd think the cupcake would cheer her up a little ;) I actually like the rain layout. Maybe it looks different in person? You could always cut out the offending cardstock and put the rest down on new paper. I've done that before and am usually really happy with the result.
ReplyDeleteYou'd think the cupcake would make your little waif happy ;) So cute.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the rain layout. I know how you feel. Sometimes I cut out the background paper and plunk everything down on new paper. It usually works out...
