I have been flat out crafting this past week. Whenever my wee dot's head hits the pillow, I am dragging out my scissors and paper and getting stuck in. I am still a very slow crafter but I am feeling really good about all that I am getting done.
I am still really enjoying the Amy Tan class on at Studio Calico this month. I have completed a second layout for the class and pulled the papers and photo out for a third. It is really exciting to see the kit slowly disappearing. Sadly, most of the photos I have ready printed are of Scarlett, so my "rule" about trying to alternate layouts of Scarlett and either the family as a whole or Tet and me has fallen by the wayside a little.
The skill I decided to attempt in the second layout was using a mask. I have been meaning to buy the Studio Calico ampersand mask for a while but still have not managed to get around to it. I decided to use a pack of Thickers as my mask. I am a pretty beginner level mist user but I am fairly pleased with how this turned out. I have wanted to scrap these pictures of Scarlett for ages so I am doubly pleased that I have this properly recorded.
Sad to say, Monkey and I had a bit of a wrestling match over the main photo so it is a little creased. I am hoping it does not detract from the rest of the layout too much! Scarlett was eight months old in these photos and these are some of my favourite pictures of her. They just seem to catch her personality perfectly.
I have also made an effort to use up some of my older bits and pieces cluttering up my desk. I ordered a Something Splendid Envelope Book class from Lizzy Kartchener ages ago. I had a few issues with it going missing in the mail and it ended up getting overlooked. I decided to break it out of its box and I am loving working on it. It is mainly based on the Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe line which I just loved. I have finished making the covers and decorating the front cover. Tonight's job is to add all the pages and start decorating them too.
Project Life weeks 2 and 3 are underway and will be finished, hopefully before we reach the end of week 4. I am waiting to add more photos from my husband's work trips. He has been very good about taking photos on his travels.
On a happy note I won a beautiful mini album kit from Lisa Dickinson on her blog Gettin' By. It is a JBS project kit called Paper Kisses. It is designed to document a Valentine's Day or a love story. Sadly my Valentine is working in Bangkok this week so there won't be any photos here. I have plans to use it to scrap some of our wedding pictures. True confession time - I have been married seven years and not one of my photos has been scrapped and none are on the wall either. The worst part is most of our photos are gorgeous! Hopefully this situation will be rectified soon.
Sorry for such a novel of a post.
Have a very Happy Valentines Day!
The misting looks great! I've been wanting to try using that technique for a title. Good job!
